Argentine President Javier Millay has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Guillermo Francos, the head of state's press service said.

Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni will become Argentina's new prime minister.

“I ask you to accept my resignation as head of cabinet so that you can begin governing the country without restrictions after the national elections held on October 26“, Francos wrote in a statement. Millay had previously proposed cabinet changes after the congressional elections.

On October 26, Argentina held midterm parliamentary elections, in which 127 of the 257 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 24 of the 72 seats in the Senate were renewed. With over 97% of the votes counted, the ruling party "Freedom Comes" leads in the capital and 15 of the 23 provinces. The government did not secure an absolute majority in either chamber, but it significantly strengthened its position.
