An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed four people. Three others were injured, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said, quoted by AFP and BNR.
The agency commented that these strikes raise concerns about the stability of the year-old ceasefire between Israel and the pro-Iranian group. Despite a ceasefire in November last year, Israel maintains troops in five areas in southern Lebanon and continues to periodically carry out airstrikes that the Israeli military claims are aimed at "Hezbollah".
In the middle of last month, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called for talks with Israel in mid-October, after Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire in Gaza. However, Aoun later accused Israel of responding to his call for peace by stepping up its strikes against Lebanon. The United States has stepped up pressure on Lebanese authorities to disarm the Hezbollah group, which operates on Lebanese territory.
In 2023, Hezbollah began shelling Israel across the border after the outbreak of the Gaza war in a show of sympathy for the Palestinians. This escalated the conflict with Israel and led to an open war that lasted two months, before a ceasefire was restored a month ago.
