North Korean forces fired about 10 multiple launch rocket systems into the Yellow Sea about an hour before Pentagon Secretary Pete Hegseth arrived at the Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported, citing South Korean military officials.

On November 3, the defense ministers of the Republic of Korea and the United States visited the zone together for the first time since 2017. The missile launch was recorded at approximately 4:00 p.m. local time.

Seoul noted that North Korean forces fired about 10 missiles at approximately 3:00 p.m. local time on November 1 during the South Korea-China summit in Gyeongju. The South Korean leader's administration noted before the meeting that the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula could be a subject of discussion between the leaders of the two countries.

“Our military is closely monitoring North Korea's actions, maintaining a high level of joint combat readiness between the Republic of Korea and the United States“, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea said. Yonhap News Agency noted that the launch did not violate UN Security Council resolutions.
