Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that changes the way military conscription is carried out, so that it will be carried out throughout the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. According to the current law, citizens are mobilized twice a year - from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31, Interfax news agency reported, quoted by Focus.

According to the new law, conscription calls will be made throughout the year, commented Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee.

According to him, "the purpose of the change is to reduce the workload of the military registration and enlistment services, which will now be able to work normally throughout the year, instead of every three months when they work under pressure".

At the same time, Putin signed a law that allows the mobilization of citizens voluntarily entering the army reserve to protect vital facilities and infrastructure in the country.

This law allows reservists to be sent for special training to protect vital facilities and infrastructure.
