Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the developers of the Burevestnik cruise missile and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, the Russian state news agency TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
“The developers of the Burevestnik strategic cruise missile with unlimited range and a nuclear engine and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle were awarded well-deserved state awards“, Putin addressed the awardees.
The President noted that today the Kremlin pays tribute to individuals who have demonstrated worthy service to the Motherland. “They have made a significant contribution to ensuring its security and defense capabilities, strengthening its scientific and industrial potential and technological sovereignty“, he added.
“I want to thank you and all the scientific and production teams – tens of thousands of people – who participated in the creation of this powerful, effective and unique weapon”, the head of state emphasized. He added that Russian designers have fulfilled all armament plans and have created a colossal foundation for the future.
At the same time, the president paid more specific attention to the new weapons systems that have entered service with the Russian Armed Forces. He stated that the nuclear torpedo “Poseidon“ can move several times faster than all modern warships, and “Burevestnik“ surpasses all other missile systems in range.
Putin also noted that a NATO reconnaissance ship was in near the Burevestnik test range on October 21, but Russia has not interfered in its activities.
“All our plans to create modern weapons systems, develop the defense-industrial complex and provide the Russian army and navy with modern equipment and weapons are being implemented“, the Russian president noted.
“We have developed and deployed the Oreshnik medium-range missile system and started serial production“, Putin added. “We have equipped our intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched missiles with modern penetrating missile defense systems“, he added.
