Flights at Hanover airport were halted for 45 minutes on the evening of November 5 due to an unidentified drone spotted near the airport, the DPA news agency reported, citing an airport spokesman.

According to the agency, the airport was closed from 10:00 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. after a pilot of a plane approaching the airport spotted the drone and reported it. Preliminary data suggests that the drone was flying over a nearby industrial area. Some flights were diverted as a result of the incident. Delays were also observed during takeoff and landing.

At the moment, as DPA notes, the airport is operating normally.

On November 2, operations at Bremen Airport were interrupted for about an hour due to the sighting of a drone near the airport. On Friday evening, Berlin Airport was closed for about two hours due to the detection of a drone. To cope with the delays, planes were given exceptional permission to take off until 2:00 a.m. and land throughout the night. Five departing planes took advantage of this exception.
