I am leaving for Washington today to open a new chapter in Hungarian-American relations with President Donald Trump, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said today on the social network "Facebook", quoted by the national news agency MTI, BTA reported.
Orbán said that Donald Trump's re-election has opened new opportunities for Hungarian-American relations.
"The first ten months of this year were the initial phase during which we repaired the damage that Hungary and Hungarian-American relations suffered during the Joe Biden administration," the prime minister said. "Politically motivated sanctions have disappeared, American funding of NGOs attacking Hungary has been terminated, and we can travel to the United States without a visa again. This concludes the first phase," the Hungarian prime minister said.
"Our goal is to establish a strategic partnership that includes energy and defense cooperation, investments and discussion of the post-war situation after the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. We are working on an agreement based on mutual benefits that will serve every Hungarian citizen," Orbán said.
"We are heading to Washington! Let's get to work!", the prime minister concluded.
