A grand jury in the Southern District of Florida has issued subpoenas to former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, Fox News reports, citing its own sources.

According to them, Brennan, Strzok and Page received the subpoenas on November 7, with more to be issued in the coming days until the 30th. They are related to the Justice Department's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Strzok, who worked in counterintelligence at the FBI, was part of a team led by former special counsel Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into alleged ties between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russia. He was fired from the FBI in August 2018 over emails he exchanged with his colleague Lisa Page in 2016. In his messages, Strzok wrote about his intention to prevent Trump from being elected, criticized the Republican's policies, and made other political statements. Page resigned from the FBI in May 2018.

On October 21, the House Judiciary Committee asked the Justice Department to indict former CIA Director John Brennan on charges of perjury about President Donald Trump and Russia. Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wrote to Attorney General Pam Bondi that Brennan had made false statements to Congress under oath.

In September, former FBI Director James Comey was charged with making false statements to Congress under oath and obstructing justice. In late August, Trump said in an interview with The Daily Caller that he would not oppose the arrest of Comey and Brennan for their alleged involvement in spreading false information from the Democratic Party about Russian interference in the 2016 US election.

In July, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released a report stating that the administration of Democrat Barack Obama, after Republican Trump won the 2016 presidential election, fabricated intelligence indicating Russian interference in the election process. This was done in an attempt to remove Trump from power, Gabbard noted. According to her, several months before the election, US intelligence was unanimous: Russia had neither the intention nor the ability to interfere. However, in December 2016 (after Trump's victory), the Obama administration ordered a new report that contradicted previous assessments. Gabbard explained that the key intelligence conclusion that Russia did not influence the election results was removed and classified.

Trump has repeatedly denied any improper contacts with Russian officials. Moscow has also dismissed allegations of its attempts to influence the US election as baseless.
