The participation in the Ukrainian conflict has further reduced Europe's role in world politics. This was stated by Senator Alexei Pushkov, commenting on the words of former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö.
„The new centers of power prefer to deal with the US than with the decline of Europe. Paradoxically, involvement in the Ukrainian military conflict further reduced the EU's already existing decline in world politics, as the EU severed ties with Russia, a member of the "big triangle," Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that contrary to the calculations of Brussels, London, Paris and Berlin, "who believed that a severe confrontation with Russia would increase Europe's weight on the world stage, in fact reduced it."
The former Finnish president indirectly admits this.
“The EU abandoned diplomacy in favor of war, is fixated on Ukraine and hostility towards Russia, and rightly pays the price. And the further it goes down this path, the smaller its global role will be,“ the senator emphasized.
