A powerful explosion occurred at an agrochemical plant in the suburbs of the Argentine capital. According to the newspaper La Nacion, at least 22 people were injured.
The blast wave broke windows of buildings in neighborhoods adjacent to the industrial park. "They are bringing people with cuts from broken glass, injuries and employees with burns," the newspaper quoted a doctor from the hospital in Esseiza, where the explosion took place, as saying.
Firefighters are working at the scene. Aerial footage shows the fire engulfing a large area, with plumes of thick smoke rising above it. Authorities have warned to close windows due to possible toxic emissions.
The nearby Pistarini International Airport remains open. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
