US warns NATO: If Kiev rejects Trump's 28-point plan, worse deal will follow - 1

The US has threatened Ukraine with a deterioration in the terms of the peace agreement with Russia if Kiev does not agree to the current 28-point proposal. The Guardian writes about this, citing informed sources, Focus writes.

Yesterday, after a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a phone call from the White House, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who unexpectedly became the negotiator on the peace agreement, held a briefing for NATO ambassadors in Kiev.

"It was a terrible meeting. Another "you have no cards" argument, one of the meeting attendees told the publication.

Driscoll reportedly declined to elaborate on whether the agreement offered to Ukraine was the 28-point plan that was "leaked" to the press. "Some things matter, some things are just for show, and we focused on what matters," he said instead.

Europe is concerned that this US-Russian peace plan was developed in secret behind Ukraine's back and is now being presented to Kiev as a settled matter. "Driscoll justifies this approach by saying that it makes the process more manageable."

"President Trump wants peace now. "The more cooks there are in the kitchen, the harder it is to deal with it," he said, according to a source who attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the US chargé d'affaires in Kiev, Julie Davis, who of course also attended the meeting, told European diplomats that while the terms of the agreement were tough on Ukraine, Kiev had no choice but to agree to them, or it would face worse conditions in the future.
