The Israeli army said on Monday it had killed a local Hamas commander in Gaza, Reuters reported. The agency noted that Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group continue to accuse each other of violating the agreed ceasefire, BTA reports.
In a statement, the military said the man killed was Alya Al-Hadidi, head of supplies at Hamas' production headquarters. The post said he was killed in one of yesterday's attacks in the Gaza Strip.
From "Hamas" have not commented on the report of the commander's death.
Yesterday, the Israeli army carried out airstrikes on Gaza, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said were in response to Hamas sending a fighter into Israeli-controlled territory. He noted that five senior Hamas members were killed.
Health authorities in Gaza reported that at least 20 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli strikes.
