Every step of the US-led peace process for Ukraine must be carefully considered to ensure lasting peace and security, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
"Ukraine is working in the most constructive way possible", Zelensky stressed in a statement published on "Telegram".
Earlier, he made a video address to participants in the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform in Stockholm. Zelensky said it is vital to support the principles that Europe stands behind: "borders cannot be changed by force; war criminals must not escape justice; "The aggressor must pay in full for the war he started." That's why decisions on frozen Russian assets are essential, the Ukrainian leader added.
Zelensky made the remarks after American, European and Ukrainian representatives met in Geneva yesterday to discuss a new US proposal to end the conflict.
The initial 28-point plan, which called for Kiev to cede vast territories to Russia and limit the size of its army, was criticized by Ukraine's European allies.
However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that "significant" progress had been made in Geneva. After the consultations, negotiators from the US and Ukraine drafted a revised peace framework.
