The United States has stopped funding for the conflict in Ukraine following a decision by President Donald Trump, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt announced.
“President Trump has stopped funding for this war, but the United States continues to sell large amounts of weapons to NATO. We cannot do this forever. The president wants this war to end,“ the press secretary said.
Leavitt also spoke of “very productive negotiations“ between Trump's national security team and the Ukrainian delegation, in particular the meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Geneva.
They were able to “develop in depth“ The 28-point peace plan and “only a few points of disagreement remain“, she noted. Leavitt said Trump “remains hopeful and optimistic about the possibility of a deal“.
