Poland plans to increase production of 155 mm artillery shells 30 times in the coming years. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamisz during a forum for local self-government in Zakopane, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
“The production capacity of 155 mm ammunition will be increased 30 times thanks to the law on ammunition plants“, the minister was quoted as saying by radio station RMF24.
Koszyniak-Kamisz specified that the government has allocated 3 billion zlotys (about $750 million) for the construction of three new plants. According to him, the commissioning of these capacities will guarantee Poland complete independence in the production of artillery shells of this caliber.
The minister also recalled that over the past two years, the MESKO company, part of the PGZ defense concern, has increased the production of small-caliber ammunition five times - from 50 to 250 million pieces per year.
