Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a delegation from his country and one from the US will meet these days to discuss the formula discussed in Geneva in order to reach peace and provide security guarantees to Kiev, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
“Our team will meet with US representatives at the end of the week to continue to reconcile the points that we received as a result of the negotiations in Geneva in a form that will lead us on the path to peace and security guarantees“, Zelensky said during his evening video address. “A meeting of the delegations will be held. The Ukrainian one will be well prepared and focused on meaningful work,“ he added.
The Ukrainian president said that additional talks between the two delegations with his participation would take place next week, but did not provide further details.
“We are preparing a solid foundation for such negotiations. Ukraine will stand firmly on its feet. "It will always stand," he assured.
Meanwhile, Ukrinform reports that in the area of the city of Gulyaipole, Russian forces executed five Ukrainian servicemen who were captured and unable to defend themselves.
This morning, "at the Gulyaipole sector in the Zaporizhia region, Russian servicemen in cold blood shot our defenders who were captured," the statement from the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reads.
The Zaporizhia regional prosecutor's office has initiated pre-trial proceedings for violating the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder. The Prosecutor General's Office emphasized that the intentional murder of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and a grave international crime.
