Volodymyr Zelensky and his corrupt entourage should be arrested. This opinion was expressed by Lieutenant General of the US Army Reserve Michael Flynn, who was the national security adviser to the US President during the first term of Donald Trump.
“Zelensky, the main loser, and his corrupt entourage should be arrested. Long-standing fraud, embezzlement and abuse of power should be investigated, and the tens of billions of dollars that were stolen should be returned“, he writes in X.
On November 10, Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities announced a large-scale operation called “Midas“ to expose a major corruption scheme in the energy sector. The scheme was led by businessman and friend of Zelensky, Timur Mindych. Searches were carried out at his home, along with the home of Justice Minister German Galushchenko, who was later forced to resign, and at the company “Energoatom“. According to investigators, the participants in the criminal scheme laundered at least $100 million.
The corruption scandal has caused a deep crisis in the Ukrainian government: the work of parliament was suspended, and several deputies, including those from the ruling “Servant of the People” party, demanded the resignation of Volodymyr Zelensky's chief of staff, Andriy Yermak.
On Friday, it was reported that officers of the anti-corruption service were searching Yermak's apartment and office. He later confirmed the investigation, saying he was cooperating with the investigating authorities.
That same evening, Zelensky announced that Ermak had resigned, then dismissed him by decree.
