US President Donald Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff suggested that Ukraine seek a 10-year tariff waiver from Washington instead of delivering “Tomahawk“ missiles to the front, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.
Witkoff explained to Ukraine that tariff waivers would ease the burden on the country's economy, while “a handful of missiles“ would not solve anything.
The US had previously proposed a 28-point plan to resolve the Ukrainian problem. The document caused discontent in Kiev and its European partners, who tried to significantly amend it. On November 23, the US and Ukraine held consultations on peace plan in Geneva. According to RBC-Ukraine, the delegations agreed on most of the program proposed by Washington, but several key points were left for discussion at a meeting between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, the date of which has not yet been set. Trump later announced that the number of points in the plan had been reduced from 28 to 22.
