US President Donald Trump has announced that all pardons previously signed by the 46th US President Joe Biden with a pen (an automatic document signing device) are no longer legally binding, as are all other such documents.
As Trump noted on Truth Social, “any documents, proclamations, executive orders, memoranda or contracts“ signed by Biden with a pen are “considered null and void“. "Anyone who has received pardons, commutations of sentences or other legal documents signed in this manner, please note that they are completely null and void and no longer have any legal force," Trump added.
On November 28, Trump also stated that "any documents signed by sleepy Joe Biden with a pen, which is approximately 92% of them, are now null and void and no longer valid." Then the head of state noted that the "radical left Democrats" had effectively "taken away Biden's presidential powers." "Therefore, I am rescinding all executive orders and any other documents that were not directly signed by Lying Joe Biden, because the people who used a pen acted illegally," Trump said.
Trump has repeatedly stated that Biden did not sign the documents personally and that his entourage resorted to using a pen. He has also expressed the opinion that Biden's executive orders pardoning approximately 2,500 people, including his relatives, are invalid because they were signed in pen without the former president's knowledge.
In an interview with The New York Times, Biden acknowledged that a pen was used to sign the pardon orders on his behalf, while also claiming that all pardon decisions were made personally by him and that the use of a pen was necessary due to the large number of documents. In July, the White House launched an investigation into the former US leader's use of a pen.
