Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, said that the situation in the Gaza Strip cannot be considered a complete ceasefire.
„We are now at a critical moment; this is not yet complete. What we have achieved so far cannot be considered a complete ceasefire. "A ceasefire is impossible without the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, the restoration of stability and the free movement of people, which has not yet been achieved," Sheikh Mohammed said, speaking at the Doha forum.
The 23rd Doha Forum, entitled "Justice in Action: From Promise to Progress," will be held on December 6 and 7 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Doha. The forum participants are discussing a wide range of issues related to politics, security and economics.
Temporary consensus in resolving international crises does not allow for a comprehensive solution; the root causes of the conflict must be addressed, Al Thani said.
“The world is facing an unprecedented escalation of crises, caused not by a lack of resources or knowledge, but rather by impunity and the lack of just solutions to conflicts“, he said at the opening of the forum in Doha.
“A series of flashpoints have shown that minimal crisis management or maintaining a temporary international consensus without addressing the root causes of the conflict is no longer a viable solution“, he stressed, noting that without achieving a just solution, crises “recur, become more complex and spread beyond their borders“.
In this regard, the head of the Qatari government recalled the conflicts in Syria, Sudan and the Gaza Strip. "The challenges facing our region are also related to the declining respect for international law, the excessive and irresponsible use of force, and the weakening role of international institutions," he added, calling for a more just system of international relations.
