Zelensky announces trip to Italy and discusses financing of Ukrainian army - 1

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will visit Italy tomorrow to meet with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Reuters reports, BTA reports.

After his talks today in London with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Zelensky traveled to Brussels for new meetings related to ending the war with Russia. He specified that a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing“ will also be held this week.

The Ukrainian head of state said that Kiev needs about $800 million to purchase American weapons this year with the help of European allies. Next year, the needs under NATO's "Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL)" initiative are estimated at around $15 billion.

Zelensky described today's talks in London as productive and added that peace proposals have already been formulated. "I think the plan will be ready tomorrow evening. We will review it and send it to the United States," he said. The plan includes 20 points and does not compromise on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president confirmed that unidentified drones were spotted on his way to Ireland last week. "There will be an investigation (…) Actually, there were drones," Zelensky told reporters.
