Russian drone attacks knocked out power in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy last night. This was announced by the regional governor Oleg Grigorov, quoted by Reuters, reports BTA.
According to the agency, this is the second large-scale Russian attack on the city in the last 24 hours.
“Within half an hour, the Russians attacked the city with over 10 drones“, Grigorov wrote in a post on “Telegram“.
He specified that Sumy is currently without electricity, with part of the critical infrastructure continuing to function thanks to backup energy sources.
According to him, it is not yet clear whether there are any victims, and the restoration of power supply will begin as soon as emergency teams gain access to the affected areas.
The city of Sumy, with a population of nearly 250,000 people, is often the target of Russian attacks, Reuters notes.
