Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Jared Kushner arrived at the government office in Berlin, where negotiations aimed at reaching a peace agreement will continue today, DPA reported, BTA reports.
Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, is part of the US delegation led by US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
The talks between the parties began yesterday and lasted over five hours as part of efforts to shape a peace plan that would be acceptable to Ukraine.
After the meetings, Witkoff expressed moderate optimism, saying that “significant progress“ had been achieved in the dialogue.
Details of the proposals being discussed are not being made public, but sources say the talks are covering possible territorial compromises, Western security guarantees for Kiev, and the fate of Russian assets frozen within the European Union.
Later today, Zelensky will also meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as other European leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
