Thousands of people took part in demonstrations across Slovakia against changes to the judiciary, which opposition politicians and government critics say undermine the rule of law in the European Union member state, local media reported, Tanjug reported.
Demonstrators filled most of the central square in the capital Bratislava, and protests were also held in eight other cities.
The largest opposition party, "Progressive Slovakia", called for protests after the left-wing nationalist government of Prime Minister Robert Fitz "pushed through parliament" last week legislative changes to abolish the whistleblower protection agency and change the way the state treats witnesses.
