The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov announced that after talks in Berlin with the participation of Ukraine, the US and European allies, the Kremlin is preparing for contacts with Washington to assess the extent to which the US plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine has undergone changes, reports the BBC, quoted by News.bg.
„Work was done on a set of key points agreed upon during the contacts in Alaska and after the following hours of negotiations. We will monitor what has changed in this package and how the influence of Zelensky and the Ukrainian side has shaped it,“ Peskov said in an interview with radio “Mayak“.
“In order to understand the extent of the changes, we are currently preparing relevant contacts with America,“ he added.
According to “The New York Times“ Washington is ready to provide Kiev with legally binding security guarantees, which include a strict system of deterrence against Russia in the event of a ceasefire and a possible resumption of aggression by Moscow.
The plan also provides for the deployment of a European military contingent on Ukrainian territory under the auspices of the EU, as well as support for the construction and equipping of a Ukrainian army of about 800,000 servicemen.
Moscow sharply criticizes the idea of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory and insists on reducing the size of the Ukrainian army in peacetime.
