Japan will provide Ukraine with another $6 billion in aid in 2026, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an article in "Ex", quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reported.

"I thank Japan and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for the decision to provide Ukraine with additional financial assistance next year," the president said.

According to Zelensky, the total value of the aid package is nearly $6 billion, which will help Ukraine defend itself from Russian aggression.

"We highly value Japan's leadership role not only in the Indo-Pacific region, but also globally. This is a significant contribution to our resilience and through it - to the rules-based international order. This order is of key importance so that Russia's military policy does not continue anywhere in the world," the president stressed.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said that Japan had provided the country with demining equipment worth over $60 million.

In addition, Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro arrived in Ukraine today on an official visit, Zelensky reported on "Facebook".

"Today, together with Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro, we honored the memory of our fallen soldiers," the statement said. "Eternal memory to all our defenders, to every Ukrainian who gave his life so that Ukraine could live", Zelensky stressed.

During the visit, Ukraine and Portugal agreed on the joint production of drones, said an adviser to the Ukrainian president, Oleksandr Kamyshin, quoted by Reuters.

"We have proven that our drones work perfectly against Russian warships and submarines. Now they will help Portugal defend Europe from the sea," Oleksandr Kamyshin wrote in "Ex".

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that there would be temporary restrictions on movement in Kyiv today due to events involving foreign delegations.
