The latest version of the American plan, aimed at ending Russia's war with Ukraine, provides for freezing the current front lines and starting negotiations to create demilitarized zones, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

"The line of deployment of troops as of the date of this agreement is the de facto recognized line of contact", Zelensky said. "A working group will be formed to determine the redistribution of forces necessary to end the conflict, as well as to determine the parameters of possible future special economic zones," he added.

Zelensky assured that the new version of the US plan to end the war with Russia does not require Ukraine to formally abandon its membership in NATO, which was Moscow's main requirement.

"NATO must decide whether it wants to accept Ukraine among its members. And we have already made our choice. "We refused to change the Ukrainian constitution to include in it that the country will not join NATO," Zelensky said, referring to a previous version drafted by the United States that required Kiev to be legally obligated not to join the alliance.

Zelensky added that he expected a response from Russia today to the latest changes to the American plan, which Kiev and Washington have been negotiating for weeks.

"We will have a reaction from the Russians after the Americans have spoken to them," the Ukrainian president added.

President Zelensky noted that Ukrainian and American negotiators had failed to reach a long-term consensus on territorial issues to end the war with Russia, and called for this topic to be discussed during a meeting between the leaders.

"We have failed to reach a consensus with the American side regarding the territory of Donetsk and the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia," Zelensky said. He said he was "ready to meet with the United States at the leadership level to discuss sensitive issues," after already calling for a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky added that Washington is proposing that the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russia in southern Ukraine, be operated jointly by Moscow, Kiev and Washington. "The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant will be operated jointly by three countries: Ukraine, the United States and Russia. For Ukraine, this seems very inappropriate and not entirely realistic," he told the media.

The plan also calls for Ukraine to hold presidential elections as soon as possible after signing an agreement to end the war with Russia.
