A total of 391 migrants were intercepted today south of the Greek island of Gavdos by teams of the Greek Coast Guard and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency “Frontex“, reports ANA-MPA, quoted by BTA.

At noon, a team of the Greek Coast Guard proceeded to rescue 361 migrants who were on board a fishing vessel about 35 nautical miles south of Gavdos. The migrants were transferred to a Danish-flagged cargo ship and transported to the port of Paleochora on the island of Crete. A “Frontex“ plane also participated in the operation.

A few hours earlier, a “Frontex“ spotted an inflatable boat with 30 migrants sailing 25 nautical miles south of Gavdos. These migrants were also transported to the port of Paleochora.
