Ukraine and Europe show no readiness for constructive negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the Russian military has "firmly taken the strategic initiative on the front line", although Ukrainian troops continue to try to change the situation.
Almost all of Europe, with few exceptions, continues to "flood" Ukraine with money and weapons and "dreams of the collapse of the Russian economy under the pressure of sanctions", Lavrov said.
The foreign minister called Europe "the main obstacle to peace" since the Donald Trump administration came to power in the United States. "They do not hide their plans to prepare for war with Russia“, Lavrov said. He added that the EU “tried to push through a solution“ to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, but that failed.
The minister noted that Moscow appreciated the efforts of US President Donald Trump and his team to reach a peace agreement and was “committed to further interaction with US negotiators to develop sustainable agreements that address the root causes of the conflict“.
