American actor George Clooney, his wife and their two children have been granted French citizenship, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
Clooney and his family have become French citizens by virtue of a decree granting citizenship.
In early December, Clooney said on RTL that he loves French culture and language. In 2021, the actor and his wife purchased both a bastide and a vineyard in the commune of Brignoles in southeastern France, the agency notes.
Clooney and his family spend most of their time in the south of France.
In addition to Clooney, American director Jim Jarmusch would also like to obtain French citizenship. He announced his intention on December 26 on France Inter radio.
