Over 100,000 households and businesses in the northern and northeastern states of the US were left without power due to bad weather, according to data from the monitoring resource PowerOutage.

The states with the most power outages are Michigan, where over 53,000 customers were left without power, New York (over 22,000) and Pennsylvania (about 12,000). Another 15,000 customers were left without power in Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snowfall and gusty winds hit the Midwestern and northeastern states of the US. In particular, on Monday evening, wind speeds in Chicago, Illinois, reached 25 m/s in places. The bad weather disrupted transportation in these regions. In addition to widespread flight cancellations and delays, numerous traffic accidents were also reported.

According to NBC estimates, nearly 110 million people were affected by the severe weather.
