Russia will continue the dialogue on the Ukrainian settlement, but after Kiev's attempt to attack the presidential residence, Russia will do so mainly with the US. This was stated at a briefing by Dmitry Peskov, the president's press secretary.
„Russia is not withdrawing from the negotiation process and Russia will naturally continue the negotiation process and dialogue – mainly with the Americans“, the Kremlin spokesman assured.
The location of the Russian president during the attempted attack on his residence is not up for discussion under the current conditions, Peskov said. "As for the president's whereabouts, under the current conditions, this topic is not subject to any public discussion," he said in response to a question about the head of state's whereabouts during the attack.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported that Kiev launched an attack with 91 drones against the state residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region on the night of December 29. All drones were destroyed. As the minister noted, there were no reports of casualties or damage from the drone debris.
In turn, the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin had drawn the attention of US President Donald Trump to the attack on Kiev, which occurred "almost immediately" after the talks between the US and Ukraine at Mar-a-Lago, and warned that it would not be left “without the most serious response”. The head of state also told the American leader that Russia's position in the negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine would be reviewed.
