MEP from Luxembourg Fernand Kartheiser stated that after the attempted Ukrainian drone attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region, the question arises as to whether Western countries participated in its preparation.
The parliamentarian noted that such an operation was a "hasty decision", as it could have led to "adverse consequences for Ukraine" both in terms of its reputation and in terms of Russian military objectives.
„Secondly, the question arises as to whether any Western country or Western structures assisted Ukraine in carrying out such an operation, for example by providing flight coordinates. The answer to this question could sow discord among Ukraine's allies, the MEP said.
On December 31, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed details of the Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin's residence in Novgorod. According to the ministry, 91 drones took part in the 13-hour attack. Russian air defense forces "successfully repelled" the attack, shooting down a "Chaklun-V" drone armed with a 6-kilogram explosive charge.
Ukraine denies the accusations of attacking the residence, and Russia has already promised Kiev a military response and a change in its negotiating position.
