Heavy rains since the end of last month have caused widespread flooding in Mozambique, killing at least 50 people and affecting more than 600,000, the EU's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) said yesterday, Reuters reported.
The ERCC cited information from disaster management authorities in Mozambique.
Further rainfall is expected in the southern part of the country.
Around 78,200 people have been placed in temporary shelters and thousands of homes have been destroyed, the report said.
South Africa and Zimbabwe have also been hit by floods, with the death toll in South Africa has reached 30 deaths since late December, the center said. Zimbabwe has recorded 70 deaths.
