Russian President Vladimir Putin received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Kremlin today, announcing Moscow's readiness to provide $1 billion for US President Donald Trump's Peace Council in support of the Palestinian people, TASS reports, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, BTA reports.
Putin specified that the funds would be taken from frozen Russian assets in the US and added that this idea had already been discussed with Washington.
For his part, Mahmoud Abbas called Russia a "great friend of Palestine" and thanked for the support.
