Kremlin's plans! Vladimir Putin wants to use Trump's Peace Council to return frozen assets - 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to use US President Donald Trump's Peace Council to lift the freeze on Russian assets in order to stimulate the Russian economy. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), cited by Focus.

On January 21, Putin said that Russia was considering Trump's proposal to join the ''Peace Council' and could pay the required contribution of $1 billion from frozen Russian assets stored in the United States. Putin added that the remaining frozen Russian assets in the United States could be used to restore “territories damaged by military action“ after the signing of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine. He added that he would raise the issue at a meeting with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on the evening of January 22.

Analysts suggest that Putin was probably referring to the territories destroyed by Russian strikes and seized by Russia, rather than the territories controlled by Ukraine.

"Putin seems to be trying to negotiate the unfreezing of Russian assets not only to finance the &39;'Peace Council'', but also to restore territories damaged by Russia during a full-scale invasion. Using the frozen assets would allow Russia to return its funds and offset the costs of a full-scale invasion in 2022,“ the report said.

Financing the restoration of the territory of Ukraine seized by the Russian Federation would allow this money to be returned to the Russian economy and would help Russia further integrate the economy, society and infrastructure of the Ukrainian TOT into the central Russian system, analysts noted.

Donald Trump announced the launch of the ''Peace Council'' on Thursday, January 22, at the World Economic Forum in Davos and declared that the world has become “richer, safer and much more peaceful than a year ago“.

A little earlier, Trump invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join the ''Peace Council'.
