Seoul urged Washington to send a special envoy to Pyongyang - 1

South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok suggested that the United States send a special envoy to North Korea, Yonhap news agency reported.

This happened during his talks with US Vice President J.D. Vance in Washington.

Trump's deputy asked for advice on how to improve relations with North Korea.

„First, I said that only Donald Trump can and wants to improve relations with North Korea. "Second, I said that sending a special envoy to North Korea, whoever he is, could be a way to signal an intention to improve relations," the South Korean prime minister said.

The press had previously speculated again that Trump might meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, this time in April during his visit to China.

Kim Min-seok added that he had specific recommendations on who could be appointed as the US special envoy if Washington was interested in his opinion on the matter.

The meeting between the prime minister and the vice president lasted approximately 50 minutes. They discussed the scandal surrounding the leak of customer data from the Coupang platform. This trading platform operates mainly in South Korea, but the company is registered in the United States. Previously, South Korean media claimed that Coupang was seeking protection from American politicians, taking advantage of its status as an American company, which could cause some tension in relations between the two countries.
