At least 25 people have been killed in an attack by an Islamic State-linked group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the Associated Press reported, citing a human rights group in Ituri province.
The attack was carried out by the Alliance of Democratic Forces (ADF). According to the statement, 15 men were burned alive in a house and seven were shot dead in the village of Apakulu. Three more were killed elsewhere in the same province.
In recent days, several attacks by armed groups, including the ADF and the Rwandan-backed M23 rebel group, have been recorded in the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The ADF is active in the Uganda-Congo border region. It emerged from a rebel movement against Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni but was pushed into Congo by the Ugandan army.
In July last year, it carried out a series of attacks that killed more than 100 people.
Nearly 90 more were killed by the group in November.
