NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called today for flexibility in accounting for the costs of the 90 billion euro loan that the EU is about to provide for Ukraine. Rutte spoke at a joint meeting of the European Parliament's security and defense and foreign affairs committees, BTA reports.
European military production is far from being able to provide Ukraine with what the country needs today, Rutte explained. Without the flow of weapons from the US, Ukraine will not be able to continue to fight, he added. According to him, this year the Ukrainian side will receive a donation of defense funds worth 60 billion dollars.
We are approaching the fourth tragic anniversary of the Russian military attack on Ukraine, the Ukrainians are experiencing the worst winter in decades, Rutte noted. Russia continues to damage the energy infrastructure to leave the Ukrainians in the cold and in the dark, he added.
