Russian citizen Matvey Rumyantsev was found guilty of assaulting a woman in the UK based on testimony provided by Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron, the British newspaper The Standard reports, citing a decision by the Royal Court in Snaresbrook.
„The Russian man who „was jealous“ woman from Barron Trump's messages, was found guilty of assaulting her after Donald Trump's youngest son told British police he witnessed the attack during a video call, the article said.
According to court documents, the incident took place on January 18 last year in London.
“Oh, I'm calling from the US, I just got a call from a girl, she's being beaten,“ reads the transcript of Barron's testimony to London police.
Trump Jr. said the girl called via video link and he was able to see Rumyantsev hit her several times before the connection was cut. The entire conversation lasted five to seven seconds.
According to court documents, Rumyantsev lives in London and has a background in martial arts. During the hearing, the prosecutor said that Rumyantsev was jealous of his victim because of her relationship with Trump's son. The Russian himself testified in court that he was upset that "she was leading Barron Trump by the nose". He also admitted that his attack was "wrong and unjust".
The court found Rumyantsev guilty of causing bodily harm and obstruction of justice. He will be sentenced on March 27.
