Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is of the opinion that the majority of the EU population "rejects Ukraine's accelerated accession to the Union", writes Focus.
"And yet Brussels moves forward, no matter what. They don't care what people think, as long as only a few European governments have the power to oppose the will of Brussels. Hungary is one of the exceptions," Orban said on his X platform profile.
According to him, 95% of Hungarians reject Ukraine's EU membership because "they want to protect farmers, families and peace in Hungary."
"Our patriotic government is doing exactly what the people have given it a mandate to do. We will not back down, no matter the pressure," he added.
A few days ago, the Hungarian prime minister stressed that Budapest would not support Ukraine's accession to the European Union even in the next century.
