US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that the US armed forces will be ready to implement any decision of President Donald Trump regarding Iran to ensure that Tehran does not develop its nuclear capabilities, "Reuters" reported, quoted by BTA.
"They should not develop their nuclear capabilities. "We will be ready to do whatever the president wants from the War Department," Hegseth said during a meeting of Trump's cabinet.
US government officials have said Trump is considering various measures against Iran but has not yet decided whether to strike the Islamic Republic.
Trump's relations with the US have been strained by Tehran's bloody crackdown on protesters in recent weeks.
Washington has destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to intervene if Iran continues to kill protesters, but demonstrations in the country against worsening economic conditions and political repression have since subsided.
Trump has also stressed that the US will intervene if Tehran continues to develop its nuclear program following airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities by Israeli and American forces in June last year.
