Iran is ready to resume talks with the United States, but they must be honest and not involve the country's defense capabilities. This was stated by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, quoted by "Reuters".
Regional powers are working to prevent a military conflict between the two enemy countries.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump announced that he planned to talk to Iran, even after the US sent another warship to the Middle East, and the head of the Pentagon indicated that the military would be ready to carry out whatever the president decides.
One of the main US demands for the resumption of negotiations with Iran is the limitation of its missile program, a senior Iranian official explained last week. Tehran, however, rejects this request.
"If the negotiations are fair and just, Iran is ready to participate in such talks", Araqchi said at a press conference with his Turkish counterpart in Istanbul.
He specified that no talks between Tehran and Washington have been arranged at the moment.
Regional allies, including Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are undertaking diplomatic efforts to prevent a military confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
In response to US threats of military action, Araqchi said that Tehran is ready for either negotiations or war. He described his talks with Hakan Fidan as "good and useful" and assured that Tehran is ready to engage with regional countries to promote stability and peace.
