Russia announces important news on Ukraine talks - 1

The next round of trilateral talks between Moscow and Kiev, mediated by the United States, will be held in Abu Dhabi from February 4 to 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

The talks planned for yesterday did not take place due to problems with the agenda, he added. So far, the two sides have managed to reduce their differences on some issues, but have not achieved similar progress on the most complex issues.

The Kremlin has nothing to add regarding stopping the attacks on Ukrainian energy, Peskov said. Russia is trying to de-escalate tensions around Iran and has long offered its help in storing or processing Tehran's enriched uranium, Peskov stressed.

Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said, amid threats by US President Donald Trump of military intervention in Iran, that the Islamic Republic had not received "ultimatums" from the US to reach an agreement on its nuclear program.

Tehran "always acts seriously and honestly in diplomatic processes, but (our country) never accepts ultimatums", Baghai stressed. "Therefore, such a statement cannot be confirmed". Trump had earlier said the Islamic Republic "wants to make a deal."

Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said the world was becoming very dangerous, but Russia did not want a global conflict, Reuters reported.

The invasion of Russian forces in Ukraine in 2022 sparked the biggest confrontation between the West and Moscow since the Cold War. Against this backdrop, US President Donald Trump's envoys are trying to negotiate an end to the conflict between the two countries, Reuters notes.

In an interview at his residence outside the capital for Reuters, the Russian state news agency TASS and the Russian military blogger "WarGonzo", Medvedev praised Trump and said it was encouraging that contacts with Washington had been resumed.
