German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful rejected today Moscow's accusations that Berlin is supporting Ukraine out of revenge, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Wadeful said that these allegations are an attempt by Russia to divert attention from its own actions.
Russia previously said that German foreign policy towards Ukraine is shaped by fantasies of revenge and settling historical scores between Berlin and Moscow.
In a statement issued after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's annual press conference at the beginning of the year, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Germany's support for Ukraine is part of Berlin's revanchist agenda.
Minister Wadeful, who is visiting New Zealand, said that with these statements Russia wants to divert attention from its current behavior. He also said that Germany has no difficulty in facing its past and recognizes the role of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
