Hungary bans three Ukrainian military from entering country - 1

The Hungarian government has banned three Ukrainian military leaders from entering the country, the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Gergely Guias, announced today, quoted by the MTI news agency, BTA reported.

Guias said the government had "learned with pain and sadness that forced mobilization continues in the Transcarpathian region". The cabinet in Budapest called on the Ukrainian authorities to respect basic human rights.

Last year, our compatriot died as a result of forced mobilization, said Guias, adding that this time the victim was a Hungarian citizen with a heart condition who had been repeatedly declared unfit for military service by the Ukrainian authorities.

This is unacceptable even in a country that is under attack and at war, Guias added, pointing out that the Hungarian government is "particularly sensitive" to the violation of the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia.

Therefore, the government has decided to impose a ban on three military leaders responsible for the forced mobilization. What happened was contrary to European norms, which is why the government ordered them to be banned from entering the Schengen zone, he explained.

The Hungarian prime minister's chief of staff questioned whether Ukraine should be allowed to join the EU in 2027, as well as whether the EU should provide Kiev with financial assistance.
