A Russian police officer died in an explosion on the night of February 24 at Savelovsky station in Moscow. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at around 00:05 an unknown attacker approached patrol officers in a police car and then detonated an explosive device.

A traffic police officer and the attacker died. Two other police officers were injured and hospitalized.

The Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases for attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and illegal trafficking in explosive devices.

The families of the police officer who died and was injured in the explosion near Savelovsky station in Moscow will receive assistance, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk announced.

“The families of the dead and injured officers will be provided with all necessary assistance,” she wrote on the MAX platform.

According to Volk, the victim is Senior Lieutenant Denis Bratushchenko. He joined the Moscow police in March 2019. The deceased leaves behind a wife and two children.
