Israel has sent an indirect message to Lebanon that it will strike it hard, focusing on civilian infrastructure, including the airport, if "Hezbollah" gets involved in a possible war between the US and Iran, two senior Lebanese officials said, quoted by "Reuters".
Iran and the United States will hold a third round of nuclear talks in Geneva on Thursday amid growing concerns about the risk of military conflict between the two adversaries.
Israel has struck hard at the Iranian-backed armed group "Hezbollah" during a war in 2024, killing its leader Hassan Nasrallah along with thousands of its fighters and destroying much of its arsenal.
The Shiite Muslim organization was created by Iran's Revolutionary Guard in 1982.
Hezbollah's new leader, Naim Qassem, said last month that the group was "not neutral" in the standoff between Washington and Tehran and that it was "a target of potential aggression."
"We are determined to defend ourselves. We will choose in due course how to act, whether to intervene or not," Qassem said.
Yesterday, it was reported that the US State Department was withdrawing non-essential government employees and their families from the US embassy in Beirut.
