Shortly before that, Reuters and the Associated Press reported about explosions in the capital of Iran - Tehran. Smoke began to rise over the city. According to the Associated Press, one of the explosions was apparently a strike near the office of Israeli Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
At the same time, sirens sounded in Israel. The Israeli military said the so-called "proactive alert" was intended to prepare people for possible rockets that could be fired at Israel.
Israeli authorities announced that schools would remain closed today. People were urged to work remotely. And gatherings in public places in Israel were banned.
