The French armed forces have been involved in repelling Iranian attacks on friendly countries in the Middle East from the very beginning and will continue to support them. French President Emmanuel Macron announced this during a televised address to the nation, broadcast by the Elysee Palace press service.
„We reacted immediately and in the first hours of the conflict we shot down drones in self-defense to protect the airspace of our allies“, Macron said.
The president recalled that France has mutual defense agreements with Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also pledged to "show solidarity" with Jordan and Iraq. "In addition to the assets already in place, Rafale fighter jets, air defense systems and airborne radars have been deployed in recent hours and we will continue these efforts for as long as necessary," Macron said.
